Our SAT Prep program in West Covina is hands down the most unique, comprehensive and personalized in Southern California and possibly in the country. One of the biggest reasons why our program is so different has to do with how and why The SAT Prep Program was written in the first place. What most parents don’t realize is that every large SAT Prep company hires writers to put their programs together. Are these writers even tutors? Are they qualified? Are they in touch with the students' needs? Not necessarily! Believe it or not many SAT Prep programs in West Covina that are put together by the larger companies are not written from the perspective of an average student, they are just made to look attractive and cover details in the SAT test. Unfortunately that will not get the job done.
This is why Tier One Tutors was created, and is also why we've been so successful thus far. The SAT Prep program was put together over the period of a full year AFTER official practice tests for the new SAT were disseminated to the public. Unlike every other company in West Covina who wrote programs before they even knew what exactly was going to be on the new test, we pushed the money aside and took the path of idealism. This has finally paid off in our unbelievable and unique approach to the SAT!
The writers of the SAT Preparation program are the two young, ambitious and dynamic owners of Tier One Tutors, Brian Mupo and Steven Dorfman. The two of them spent countless hours over the course of a full year writing and developing their new program. The reason they felt so confident that they could create something unique and different is because they went through the struggle on the SAT themselves before they mastered it. Both went through SAT preparation courses and spent a myriad of hours preparing on their own while in high school. After a long hard struggle both achieved their ideal scores. Upon entering college, they independently recognized that helping others to accomplish what they did was of the utmost importance. Hence, Tier One Tutors was born serving all of Southern California, including West Covina.

Ever Expanding West Covina
In Los Angeles County, California, one can find the community of West Covina. At about 16 square miles, this town may not seem very large. However, it holds a fascinating and long history, has grown in recent years, and is home to a very large Latino community. Here we will take a look at where West Covina has been, where it is going, and what the city currently looks like. All-in-all, we think you will find that it is a great little community that is certainly thriving now, and will continue to do so.
Roots
This town was originally formed to keep the nearby community of Covina from building a sewage treatment plant on the land where West Covina is now located. From its establishment in the early 1920s until after WWII, West Covina was an area where farming was the main employment. By the 1960s, the area had modernized, and turned into a town with around 50,000 residents. Big business soon flooded the area, helping to bring on more economic prosperity, and fueling the need for a City Hall, Civic Center, a large shopping center called The Plaza, and police headquarters.
Modern Growth
The town of West Covina keeps expanding, with the addition of many new shopping centers and cultural centers. The Sportsplex is home to a sports park, a golf course, and office space. Retail centers surround most of the area around it. Westerfield also houses a variety of retail stores, restaurants, and more. New hotels are being constructed in the area, as well. All of this, along with establishment and upkeep of new and existing shops and malls show that West Covina is a budding economic hub for both residents, as well as those who live in LA, just around 20 miles away.
Today
The population of West Covina is composed mostly of Latino residents. Most own their own home, and live as married couples together in homes. Household and family size hovers at right around 3 to 3 and a half residents. There are more females that call West Covina home than males, and the average age for all residents is around 36, a bit older than the national average.
