One of the more affluent, well-known and glamorous cities in Los Angeles County, California is Malibu. This city is about 21 miles from Los Angeles and is located on the Pacific coastline. This is definitely a beach city that has a place in popular culture. The total population is just under 13,000 and it is most known for having beautiful sandy beaches that are ideal for surfers and those that simply love the outdoors. This city was originally settled by Native Americans that were referred to as the Chumash. They originally named this area after a syllable that is used to denote the feeling of no stress. This really seems to fit the city of Malibu perfectly due to its relaxed and beach vibe. Roads were not really established in this region until the year 1929, which is when the Pacific Coast Highway began construction. This city is known for many things, but the beauty and culture are what have brought it worldwide notoriety and a place in popular culture.
