Malibu One of the more affluent, well-known and glamorous cities in Los Angeles County, California is Malibu. This city is about 21 miles from Los Angeles and is located on the Pacific coastline. This is definitely a beach city that has a place in popular culture. The total population is just under 13,000 and it is most known for having beautiful sandy beaches that are ideal for surfers and those that simply love the outdoors. Many entertainers and Hollywood celebrities even call Malibu home, which only makes it more popular. It is simply known as a stunning city that offers a lot to both residents and tourists. Homes In Malibu Most residents of Malibu own homes that are positioned very close to the Pacific Coastline Highway. This makes travel much easier and potions of Malibu much more accessible. However, some residents of this city also live miles away from the beach positioned by canyons, but many of these areas are unincorporated. Although these residents still claim Malibu as their home. The cities that flank Malibu include Topanga Canyon on the east and Calabasas on the north side. The Pacific Ocean can be seen to the south and Ventura County is the boundary on the west. Prominent Beaches It is common knowledge that Malibu is home to many stunningly beautiful beaches. The most popular beaches include Malibu Beach, Surfrider Beach, Zuma Beach and Dan Blocker Beach. There are other beaches within Malibu, but these are the most popular and most frequented options. The great thing about the location of the many beaches in this city, is that they are located near parks. Malibu Creek State Park and the National Recreation Area are just a couple of the parks that are nearby the beaches for easy access. This makes Malibu a great destination for anyone that loves exploring the outdoors and enjoying the sun. History and Culture This city was originally settled by Native Americans that were referred to as the Chumash. They originally named this area after a syllable that is used to denote the feeling of no stress. This really seems to fit the city of Malibu perfectly due to its relaxed and beach vibe. Roads were not really established in this region until the year 1929, which is when the Pacific Coast Highway began construction. This city is known for many things, but the beauty and culture are what have brought it worldwide notoriety and a place in popular culture. |
