Costa Mesa Today Since the 1950s, Costa Mesa has grown into a small town with light manufacturing, tourism, and retail. The majority of residents living there are Caucasian. Mostly, you will find single-family households in the area, with around 3.3 people per household. Most residents are aged 18 to 24 years old. The average resident is about 37 years old. The majority of residents here rent, as opposed to buying houses. There are also slightly more males living in the area than there are females.
