Calabasas, CA

Calabasas is a city located in northwest Los Angeles County, California, bordering on Ventura County. It is located to the west of the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles. In 2010, the population of the city was just over 23,000, up around 3,000 residents from the previous census in 2000. Calabasas officially became a city in 1991, previously it had been a census-designated place in Los Angeles County. The city is home to many celebrities and other noteworthy, wealthy residents such as Justin Beiber, Cameron Diaz, Derek Fisher, Will Smith, Britney Spears, The Kardashian Family, and Lady Gaga. A number of Michael Jackson's family members also call Calabasas their home.

There are quite a few annual events put on and sponsored by the city, such as the Pumpkin Frstival, Eggstravaganza, The Fine Arts Festival, and the Fourth of July Spectacular. In addition to putting on public events, in 2006 the city passed one of the strictest no-smoking ordinances in the country. The ordinance bans smoking in all public places in the city “where other persons may be exposed to second-hand smoke.” Smoking in public in the city is limited to designated smoking areas. This ordinance was expanded in 2008, and will require that four fifths of rental housing be permanently non-smoking units.
