History and Culture
This city was originally settled by Native Americans that were referred to as the Chumash. They originally named this area after a syllable that is used to denote the feeling of no stress. This really seems to fit the city of Malibu perfectly due to its relaxed and beach vibe. Roads were not really established in this region until the year 1929, which is when the Pacific Coast Highway began construction.
